Creativity is our Talisman

Find Your Joy

Creativity and craft can have a profound effect on wellbeing, allowing us time to reflect, observe, notice, imagine, dream, reframe and create. At the School of Creative Wellness we use the creative process to unlock new ways of thinking and being.

With a background in art and design, our founder,  Susanna has written, designed and led graphic design and illustration courses in higher education.  She has won awards for typographic design, created work for arts and cultural organisations and spoken at international conferences.  She has a genuine passion for creativity and teaching.  After a period of transitioning into peri-menopause Susanna returned to the things that bring her joy; and yoga, breath & movement, creative practice, playing visually, thinking, processing and enquiring.

Setting up the School of Creative Wellness, she is on a quest to help women slow down and creatively explore what brings them joy. Pulling upon her expertise as a creative and educator in both the arts and design, and yoga and wellness, to offer a holistic and creative fresh way of exploring your own wellbeing.

Susanna integrates her passion for letterpress, the tactile, the handmade into her work as a yoga teacher and creates limited runs of prints used as gifts, prizes, commissions and special editions for valued customers who connect with us online and in-person. This is Susanna’s passion, her must do, feels good practice; just like the yoga. Very occasionally Susanna runs private workshops for small groups of women.

“I found letterpress* whilst studying graphic design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. Playing with words in visual forms has always been a love of mine, a whole past career. I knew I needed it in my life again, so I built a small studio and now I share my skills and passion with other women.” Susanna Edwards Founder, School of Creative Wellness

*Letterpress is a traditional craft form of printing words using woodblock and metal type on a traditional printing press using ink and paper.

While yoga provides an incredible foundation for self-discovery, I've found that pairing it with creative processing makes the journey truly holistic and deeply impactful. After a powerful yoga class, meditation, counselling, or coaching session, I turn to my own personal process: writing, drawing, collecting imagery, and creating expansive mood boards on Miro. This is how I truly "make sense" of the inner work.

Why Creative Processing is So Effective:

  • Bridging Non-Verbal and Verbal: Deep self-exploration often taps into emotions and sensations that are difficult to articulate. Drawing, imagery, and mood boards provide rich, non-linear ways to express these nuanced feelings, which I can then process further through writing.

  • Deepening Emotional Integration: Actively creating helps to integrate insights gained during introspection. It’s not just about thinking about what you’ve learned, but actively doing something with it, solidifying understanding and allowing for fuller emotional release.

The Transformative

Power of Creative

Processing

  • Revealing Hidden Connections: My expansive mood boards are phenomenal for uncovering subconscious patterns. By bringing together seemingly disparate elements, new themes and narratives emerge, offering profound clarity and fresh perspectives.

  • Sustaining the "Work" Beyond the Session: My creative process acts as a bridge, allowing the exploration and processing to continue independently, strengthening the impact of initial sessions.

  • Personalised Sense-Making: Everyone processes differently. For me, visual and expressive methods are key to making sense, respecting my unique learning style and embedding insights more deeply.

  • Play and Exploration: Approaching self-discovery with curiosity and playfulness reduces pressure, allowing for more authentic expression and unexpected insights. It makes the process enjoyable and sustainable.

Creativity &

Collaboration

Breaking Down the Silos: Our Groundbreaking Approach to Holistic Wellness at School of Creative Wellness. We collaborate with experts, co-create and form dynamic wellness experiences across the realms of the creative arts, yoga & movement, creative coaching, psychology, nutrition and more…

Here at the School of Creative Wellness, I'm not just talking about wellness; I'm actively redefining it. In a world that often keeps things neatly tucked away in separate boxes – professions, knowledge, and even our own well-being – I truly believe in the transformative power of transdisciplinary collaboration.

I'm here to tell you that solving life's greater problems, both within ourselves and in the world around us, isn't about finding a single "cure" or following one rigid path. It's about weaving together diverse threads of wisdom, support, and creativity.

This conviction is precisely why I am so incredibly proud to launch our RESOURCES page. It’s more than just a list; it’s a living testament to my philosophy, a carefully curated ecosystem designed to support intergenerational women on their unique wellness journeys, no matter what stage of life you're in.

My Holistic Path to

Wellbeing

My journey has taught me that true well-being comes from a multifaceted approach. It's about finding stillness and deep release through practices like Yin and Restorative Yoga, and then allowing that profound internal shift to be processed and understood through creative expression. This trans-disciplinary method offers a truly holistic path to self-care.

If my story resonates with you, I invite you to explore how these practices can bring greater joy, balance, and clarity into your life. What aspect of this holistic approach are you most curious to explore first? Reach out…
