Susanna discovered yoga in her twenties whilst working in London as a graphic artist and educator in higher education. Twenty five years on, a single mum and a full time university lecturer and programme leader, the pressures of her full time career meant less time on the mat and an unhealthy work life balance. After a severe burnout after hitting peri-menopause she returned to yoga and began the journey of reconnecting with her body, mind and the environment and people around her. She realised that yoga and this process of reconnection was more important that her job. She soon gained strength and clarity inside and out, quit her job and started a new, more relevant journey based on empathy, compassion and care.

Susanna Edwards founder of the School of Creative Wellness initially studied at Yoga Teachers College, YOGABODY’s professional education school under the renowned Lucas Rockwood. In an increasingly complex world she holds a space for multigenerational women to  integrate radical acts of self care into their daily routines. 

She continues her journey in learning having completed further training with Anna Ashby (restorative yoga), YogaTreat (yin yoga and yoga nidra), Andrew McGonigle (anatomy & physiology of yoga) Gabrielle Harris (yin yoga) and Paul Grilley/ Kathy Páez/ Joe Barnett/ Leta Lavigne/ Gabrielle Harris (functional & intentional sequencing for yin yoga).

Nominated as favourite yoga studio in the Om yoga awards 2024 Susanna also collaborates and teaches for the Yogamatters community. 

Previously, she has practiced iyengar and vinyasa flow, yin and restorative yoga. Her interests in body and movement, connecting with local and global communities, design, creativity and making have led her to start her own School of Creative Wellness, working online and in person, providing online on demand courses, online and in person classes, workshops and retreats  to enable and empower women as individuals and communities. 

Qualified as a yin, restorative, nidra and yoga flow teacher, Susanna also holds qualifications as a breath work coach and stretching coach. Susanna works with local communities and online. Having written, designed and delivered higher education online and in person for over 25 years, her yoga practice operates locally and globally and is themed and tailored to the needs of her particular student groups or individuals.

The first has a lot of reading and resources and can be skim read and revisited in depth as and when you can fit it around your schedule. The second module has all the practice videos. It is recommended to bookmark your favourite practices for easy access.

What’s the difference between this course and your other offers?

This is a revolutionary course centred solely on the breath and gaining control / mastery of your nervous system through your breathing. It is designed as a toolkit that can be consumed on the go, wherever you are to create new rituals for good in your life. It is designed by someone who totally understands the pain points that women can feel and who has learnt and is sharing the solutions!

What do I need to do / be / have before I join?

You just need to want to learn these wellness hacks. To be serious about committing and scheduling in 2-5 mins per day, 3 times a day for 7 days and hopefully forever, creating new rituals in your life. You need no experience. You MUST read the contraindications and safety part of the course and check with your doctor if you have any concerns or health issues that you feel may affect your practicing breathwork.

It is a good idea to learn about your breath in module 1, if you are busy it could take a week to sporadically engage with this part of course. So your initial commitment is spread over two weeks slotted easily into your routine.

I am pregnant would this still be a good fit for me?

This course can be used by people who are pregnant BUT skip the morning practices because they are very stimulating practices. You can replace with Afternoon balancing practices. Same for the evening if necessary. Consultation is always recommended with your health care provider.

I am feeling really burnt out and fragile, what will the effects be, how will I feel if I do this course?

This course can give you all the tools you need to self- soothe, balance and in time gain energy. However the morning practices stimulate your nervous system, your get up and go and if you are already in fight or flight you should avoid these and lean more towards the balancing afternoon and down regulating evening practices. Once again always consult your healthcare practitioner based on your specific individual experiences.

Do I follow the videos sequentially?

Yes initially for 7 days (but as above if you have to avoid stimulating practices for now then replace with other practices as you need). Bookmark your favourite practices as you go. After the 7 days you may wish to repeat again, however many times you need to learn them.

The ultimate goal is to have a new regular (three times a day) check in with yourself through using a breathwork technique. In addition, you have the tools in your back pocket to whip out and use whatever happens, when you notice you feel off - to rebalance yourself, to wake up when you need to and be ready for action, and to relax and sleep when you need to wind down.
